Christ is the head of our church.  The United Church of Christ  is our wider denomination.  All Churches under the United Church of Christ  umbrella are autonomous.  We believe in the Holy Trinity, God the Creator, Jesus the Redeemer, and the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, who calls the world into being, creates persons in God's image and sets before each one the ways of life.  To share in Christ's baptism and eat at his table, to join him in his passion and victory.  We are an Open and Affirming congregation as we seek God's direction through the Holy Spirit to walk in the ways of Jesus, to treat others with respect, and with the fullness of God's grace, courage in the struggle for justice and peace.  Our belief is that God bestows upon us the Holy Spirit creating and renewing the church of Jesus Christ, binding in covenant faithful people of all ages, tongues, and races.  We are an active church in the community and are proud of our regular mission/outreach projects.  NWUC has a vibrant choir and our Music with a Mission concert series has raised thousands of dollars for those in need.

NWUC is seeking to hire a Music Minister/Director and a Pianist/Organist

Both our Minister of Music and our Pianist/Organist have retired. These roles may be separate or a combined position depending on skills and experience.

Due to Covid-19, our worship services are currently on-line and include only 4 pre-recorded piano/organ pieces and hymns per week.  We hope to return to live services in the sanctuary later this year if conditions warrant that and church leadership decides to return.

Due to the virus pandemic, choral singing is not considered a safe practice and our choir program has been suspended indefinitely.  We hope to resume the program when conditions are deemed safe – and at that point we will need someone with skills and experience to lead the choir.  For the foreseeable future we are focused on replacing the Pianist/Organist position, but preference will be given to those with qualifications to also lead our choir program.

Our Music Minister/Director will lead and direct the church music program to include choral, vocal, and instrumental expressions of the experience of faith.  Candidates must have strong choral directing background and proven ability to inspire and motivate others to express their faith through music.  We have a talented and dedicated 12-18-member adult choir with a large repertoire of anthems. We seek candidates with a visionary plan to collaborate with the Pastor and Music Committee to lead the music program, which also includes helping manage a very successful community outreach concert series, Music with a Mission. This is a contracted, part-time salaried position, requiring approximately 10-12 hours per week for planning, preparation and services. The salary is commensurate with abilities and experience. Please send a cover letter and resume to Rev. Debra Girard:  Pastordebbienwucc@gmail.com

Our Pianist/Organist provides piano and/or organ accompaniment for Sunday worship and other special services, including weddings, funerals, etc.  He/She accompanies the weekly adult choir rehearsals and special music during the summer.  Candidates must have excellent piano skills; organ experience is also preferred. This is a contracted, part-time salaried position, requiring approximately 6-8 hours per week for planning, preparation and services.  The salary is commensurate with abilities and experience. Please send cover letter and resume to Rev. Debra Girard:  Pastordebbienwucc@gmail.com
